IslesInfo Pregame Preview

Preview

6-0 Isles Look to go Perfect in Preseason

Oct 4: The Islanders face the Flyers for the second straight time in the preseason. This time New York is the home team even though the game will be played in Hersey, PA.

Isles vs. New Jersey Preview: Both Garth Snow and Rick DiPietro have compiled 3-0 records this preseason. Expect DiPietro to get the final start before the start of the regular season. The Islanders will most likely play their opening night roster tonight, though there are still 14 forwards on the team right now and it's possible Trent Hunter, Eric Godard and Sean Bergenheim could remain with the team. Justin Papineau scored 3 goals in camp and seems to have impressed enough to make the team. Justin Mapletoft is seemingly on the bubble. On defense, Bruno Gervais has really impressed the Islanders staff and given them and Islander fans hope for the future. But seeing Gervais on the Islanders blue line this season could be a bit much to ask since the Islanders are so deep with the first 7 spots basically already filled. Look for Bruno to be signed to a contract possibly before getting sent back to junior in the QMJHL. This could be the toughest matchup thus far for the Islanders as it has been rumored the Devils will also ice their opening night roster tonight, despite playing last night.
