comment: The fact that he played for a horrible team
in 2002-03 and went into the draft with a GAA of 4.77
probably scared off a lot of NHL teams. He still has a
lot to prove but according to the articles below Michaud
seems very happy to have been drafted.
Michaud becomes
Islanders
by Andre Martin, July 2, 2004
(Translated from French-Canadian)
The guard of the
Acrobats Sylvain Michaud has just proven with all which
never should be ceased believing in his dreams.
The 19 year old guard was
fished out, the last weekend, by Islanders of New York.
At the time of 9th and last round, the guard of
Repentigny heard his name. Calmly, it rose to move to
the table of Islanders.
"My mother had not heard my name and it believed
that I rose for me to go from there, Sylvain Michaud
underlines. Its reaction was sharp. On my side, I did
not think any more of nothing and I was so content. I
took the trouble to look at the central table to see my
name there. I will preciously preserve the pullover and
the cap."
Michaud was the 276th player fished out by a team of the
national League, in 2004. It is the depistor of
Islanders, Mario Saracino, which had convinced it to be
pointed as a Caroline, for the fishing out.
"Islanders are the only team which I had met in
interview, Michaud underlines. They took the trouble to
speak to me. With my mother and Isabelle, on my pension,
one decided to go up in Ralley. We did not think that
that took 22 hours of road, but that was worth the
sorrow. Moreover, with share Rick Dipietro, Islanders
have few young guards. I am also the only guard fished
out by them this year."
After having known one difficult season at 17 years,
Michaud was raised last season. It had been piqué not
to be fished out and it wanted to make lie its dénigreurs.
"I do not intend to slow down with the drive this
summer because it has been my receipt gaining for
several years, Michaud notes. My efforts were rewarded,
but walk is still very high before playing a first match
in the great league. One will have a good year with the
Acrobats and waitings will be higher this year."
The director-manager of the Acrobats Michel George, was
very happy for his guard number one.
"I am content because Sylvain never released,
George underlines. On the other hand, I am not surprised
because I always knew that it was good. He stopped the
discs on the level midget AAA and he still did it last
year. That proves that the guy can still be fished out
to 18 or 19 years. They never owe abandonner.
Ten minutes with Sylvain
Michaud
by Andre Martin, July 2, 2004
(Translated from French-Canadian)
For this eleventh
portrait d?une series of 23 on the players of the
Acrobats, the native guard of the Keeper Sylvain Michaud
retains l?attention.
"Of the days, I
wonder which player I would have become if I did not
n?avais selected the position of goalkeeper."
This sentence, launched by the 18 year old guard of the
Acrobats, Sylvain Michaud, explains in good part its
style of hockeyor and its personality.
Those which followed the actions of the small guard
since his beginnings in Drummondville will have noticed
the exceptional talent of Michaud with man?uvrer the
disc around its net.
This year, it found its confidence (amochée l?an last
because d?une difficult season) and it took much d?expérience
in its role of third defender. It n?est not rare to see
it carrying out itself the release in numerical
disadvantage.
When one looks at a little the past of the guard of
Repentigny, one includes/understands d?où better come
these "offensive" qualities. 18 years L?athlète
always adored to play l?avant. It n?est d?ailleurs never
question for him of keeping the lorsqu?il goals goes to
the skating rink. It has d?ailleurs always dreamed to
mark a goal, a dream qu?il realized at pee-wee AA.
Because d?une storm, its trainer had asked him to play
l?attaque.
"This n?avait be a very beautiful goal, but j?ai
have what I wanted, tell Sylvain Michaud. J?ai always
liked to mark and j?ai good hands with the skating rink.
C?est with the result that j?ai also good hands as
guard, even if j?ai a mitten. I wonder really which
player I would have become if j?avais continued to play
l?avant. But I do not think that j?aurais have more
success."
However, after the levels prénovices, Michaud requires
has his/her parents of l?emmener with Montreal-Is, where
the players can more quickly become goalkeepers. It was
really justified to adopt this position and with
becoming good quickly.
C?est what l?a brought to play three seasons on the
level atom BB, with l?équipe of the CLL (Charlemagne,
the Keeper and L?Assomption). Then, at its second season
pee-wee, it makes the jump on level AA with the Pioneers
of Lanaudière. Michaud will not play then qu?une season
on the level bantam AA, before d?être chosen by André
Tourigny, at 15 years, with the Piers of the
Cape-of-the-Madeleine, the League midget AAA of Quebec,
l?équipe which accomodates the players elites of
Lanaudière.
Extremely in series
In eight years d?existence, the Piers n?avaient yet not
gained only one eliminatory series. They had finished in
the forefront in 1998-1999, but they had been eliminated
with the first turn by Sainte-Foy.
In 2000-2001, Michaud and his finish them with the fifth
rank and penultimate row of Koho division. They thus
face Lévis (the fourth position) in first round.
The first two matches with Lévis are disastrous and the
Piers essuient reverses from 8 to 5 and 7 to 0.
"Andre Tourigny m?a makes come in his office to say
to me that even if j?accordais 25 more goals in the next
match, I would remain in front of the net, tells Sylvain
Michaud. He m?avait whipped with this mark
d?encouragement. Few people believed in us, but we then
gained the last three confrontations of the series three
of five."
The Piers were then inclined in five matches against
powerful Sainte-Foy Gouverneurs, who aligned Steve
Bernier, Marc-Antoine Pouliot and Dany Roussin,
respectively first, third and fifth choice on the whole
of the fishing out of 2001 of the LHJMQ.
At 16 years, Sylvain Michaud, a choice of round third
(41e on the whole) cuts a station with the Acrobats. L?équipe
knows troubles in spite of an alignment filled players
established in the Courteau circuit. But after the world
Challenge of less than 17 years, Michaud speaks with the
director-manager about the Acrobats, Michel George, and
decides qu?il would be better for him to turn over with
the Piers for the balance of the season.
In series, Michaud trails the Piers jusqu?en final Koho
division.
After an easy victory of three parts to zero in the
first series against Jonquière, the Piers are measured
with the Roadmenders d?Alex Bourret and Benoit Doucet.
The 16 year old guard was suspended for the first two
matches of the series, result d?une fair in the last
match vis-a-vis the Elites. The Cape-of-the-Madeleine
thus drew from l?arrière 2 to 0 when Michaud returned
to the play. After victories (4 to 3 in prolongation and
3 to 0) at the time of the two parts in residence of the
Piers, the series is equal 2 to 2. The Roadmenders gain
the following match on their premises and the players
d?André Tourigny must absolutely put the hand on the
two last meetings. They empochent the sixth meeting,
once again in prolongation, before d?aller to gain the
series in seven matches, in Magog.
The fairy tale s?arrête however finally of division,
whereas powerful Gaulois of the College Antoine-Girouard
de Saint-Hyacinthe (cash in particular on Kévin
Mailhiot, David Laliberté and Julien Ellis) gains the
series into five against the Piers.

One is unaware of: If Michaud n?atteint not the national

had adored a professor of fourth secondary) by the
inequalities on planet and the lack of resources of the
children of the countries in the process of development.
Rather rare C?est qu?on intends a 18 year old hockeyor
to speak to us about l?education of the children in

Possible Drummondville
NHL picks?
Sylvain Michaud has a
chance of being a late rounder, but there is just too
much baggage that comes along with this kid. He has an
attitude, and has a lot of off-ice issues to deal with,
and the fact that he has not had a spotless medical
history (he has had bouts with mono, as well as viral
meningitis, and a few other viruses, and has had some
injury woes.) Sly can be a good goalie, but he needs to
get his head screwed on straight if he wants to be taken
seriously.
