2005-06 Update: Was
rumored again to be coming over to the Islanders in 2003
but it never happened. Most likely at this point it
never will as he is now 30 years old. He recently played
in the 2005 Spengler Cup for his Russian team Metallurg
Magnitogorsk.
2001-02 Update:
Was rumored to
possibly be joining the Islanders in North America since
he is an older prospect. But no signing was announced
prior to the July 15, 2002 deadline for signing European
born drafted players.

Kuhtinov(some spell
Kukhtinov) is 27 years
old. The Islanders hoping to
find a more seasoned gem over in Europe in the mold of late round
selections like Radek Martinek and Dick Tarnstrom, not too
much is known yet about Roman Kuhtinov. What is known is that he's a
right shot with good puck handling skills. He was not rated by the CSB.
"He's got a
chance to play over here," said Islanders'
Assistant Director of Pro Scouting Kevin Maxwell.
"If he does decide to come over and make the jump,
it's going to be sooner rather than later because of his
age and experience."
