Dmitri Altarev leads
Dizel Penza in scoring with 27 points in 32 games as of
February 1, 2006. This is his third year with his
hometown team Dizel Penza. He is currently 25 years old.

Had a breakout season
offensively in the Russian League with 19 goals and 39
points, second most on his team - Dizel Penza. He also
played a career high 56 games and accumulated 86 PIM's.
Altarev does not seem to be in the Islanders plans as he
was not listed as a prospect in their 2003-04 media
guide.

Altarev will turn 20
in August. The Islanders are going to give him plenty of
time to mature. He's a pretty big guy and he competes
according to former Islanders chief scout Gordie Clark. The
scouting staff is going to keep an eye on him. The
Islanders acquired this pick on May 11, 2000 as part of
the deal that sent 1998 2nd round pick C Chris Nielsen
to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a 4th and 9th round
pick in the 2000 Draft.
